Turmeric Secrets You Need To Know

Professionals in Chinese Medicine, as well as Ayurveda, have been suggesting turmeric for hundreds of years, recognizing the power and advantages of turmeric.

Here are 12 benefits of Turmeric Curcumin you need to know.

1. Battles Weight problems

The journal Biofactors released a study that showed that curcumin may have the ability to reduce the growth of fat cells. This study found that curcumin was significant at controlling inflammation in obesity and thereby helped by control obesity and it’s “adverse health effects”.

2. Minimizes Clinical Depression Symptoms
While there have been very few human studies, there are been several research trials have actually shown that turmeric advantages consist of being particularly reliable in reducing depression symptoms in lab animals. These results seem to be connected to the method in which curcumin impacts a  neurotransmitter through the brain-derived neurotrophic aspect. The journal Phytotherapy Study Research released the outcomes of an impressive, innovative research in 2014. The participants consisted of 60 volunteers diagnosed with major depressive condition and split them up to figure out just how the research participants given turmeric curcumin did compared to fluoxetine, as well as a mix of both. Curcumin was equally efficient as fluoxetine in taking care of anxiety by the six-week mark.

Now, since those amazing results were published, two other studies have been conducted that also showed that curcumin (turmeric’s major substance), also helped people with clinical depression. One of those studies consisted of 56 people (both male and female). The second of those studies was conducted with 108 all male participants. Both utilized a sugar pill. They did not, however, compare curcumin to any antidepressant drug. But, both of those findings comfirmed that curcumin did decrease the symptoms of depression more than a sugar pill (placebo).

3. Potentially Assist In The Control Of Diabetes

There was a study conducted in 2009 by Auburn University and published in  Biochemistry and Biophysical Research Communications. That study made an amazing discovery. It showed that the curcumin in tumeric is 400 times more powerful than a common diabetes drug known as metformin in activiating the enzyme AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase).

That is profoundly significant. Being able to activate AMPK is extremely important in type 2 diabetes, since being able to active the enzyme has dramatic potential for the development of treatments that reduce insulin resistance and help to reverse diabetes.

Not only that, but a study conducted on rats showed that when the rats were given curcumin it had a major impact on the reduction of peripheral diabetic pain.

Kidey failure can come from diabetic neuropathy. Further, a meta-analysis showed that curcumin protected the kidneys of diabetic subjects from the damage that can come from diabetic neuropathy.

4. Works as a Natural Painkiller

Since curcumin is so effective at controlling inflammation, it is widely known as a pain reliever. Here are some of the ways that it is known to help with pain:

  • Arthritis and join pain

  • Burn Relief

  • Wounds

  • Pain in the mouth, jaws and face

  • Pain After Surgery

  • Sciatic nerve pain

5. Can Reduce Inflammation
Probably, one of the most effective attributes of curcumin is that it can control inflammation. The journal Oncogene published the outcome of a research study that evaluated a number of anti-inflammatory substances and noted that curcumin was one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory compounds found anywhere.

Several animal studies have also been done to find out if curcumin had any effect on Alzheimer’s disease. They found out that in mice, curcumin “reverses existing amyloid pathology as well as linked neurotoxicity,” a crucial function of the development of this neurological disease related to persistent inflammation.

6. Benefits The Health Of Your Skin

Many different skin conditions have been shown to be benefited due to the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that Turmeric possesses. Some of the benefits found were “glow and also gloss” of the skin, accelerating injury healing, relaxing the pores to decrease acne and its scarring, as well as controlling the outbreak of psoriasis. There was a pilot research (uncontrolled) that consisted of 814 individuals that showed that turmeric paste could reverse 97 percent of scabies outbreaks within a window of 3 to 15 days.

7. Detoxing and Cleansing The Tissue

An essential benefit of turmeric extract is its capacity to detox the body. We are constantly exposed to toxins through the air we breathe, the food the eat, the water we drink. It has been found that turmeric’s active component curcumin can assist the liver by removing those toxins, many of which can lead to cancer and other disease if not removed from the body.

Every day, you are likely revealed to ecological and also dietary toxins called xenobiotics. These chemical substances and not usually existing in the human body as well as are usually related to raised quantities of inflammation and also higher threat of cancer.

8.Has The Potential To Rival Many Arthritis Drugs
Since curcumin is known for its ability to reduce inflammation as well as pain, a study was conducted witih 45 rheumatoid arthritis individuals to see how curcumin did when compared to a common arthritis drug known as diclofenac sodium (an NSAID). The drug NSAID has known side-effects which put people at risk of leaky gut and the development of heart disease. The research divided these study participants into 3 groups:  diclofenac sodium alone, curcumin therapy alone and a combination of the two. The outcomes of the study were illuminating. This is a direct quote of the findings: “The curcumin group showed the highest percentage of improvement in overall [Disease Activity Score] scores and these scores were significantly better than the patients in the diclofenac sodium group. More importantly, curcumin treatment was found to be safe and did not relate with any adverse events. Our study provides the first evidence for the safety and superiority of curcumin treatment in patients with active RA, and highlights the need for future large-scale trials to validate these findings in patients with RA and other arthritic conditions.”

When reviewing the 8 studies available that fit the stated criteria, ““these [randomized clinical trials] provide scientific evidence that supports the efficacy of turmeric extract (about 1000 mg/day of curcumin) in the treatment of arthritis.”

9. Has Been Shown To Slow or Avoid Blood Clots
In research studies, the use of turmeric curcumin significantly lowers instances of platelet aggregation and also potentially decreases the threat of embolism developing.

One such study carried out in 1986 also recommends curcumin may be a more suitable therapy method for people “prone to vascular thrombosis as well as calling for antiarthritic therapy.” However, this result still needs to be reproduced in human trials.

10. Has The Potential To Deal With Specific Cancers
There have been many topics of research where curcumin is concerned. But the topic of cancer has probably been researched more than any of the others.

In words of global authorities like Cancer Study UK: “A number of laboratory studies on cancer cells have shown that curcumin does have anticancer effects. It seems to be able to kill cancer cells and prevent more from growing. It has the best effects on breast cancer, bowel cancer, stomach cancer and skin cancer cells.”

Baylor Scott & White Research Institute conducted a study in 2017  and discovered that curcumin may have the ability to break through an aggressive pancreatic cancer known as pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).

11. Helps In The Control Of Inflammatory Bowel Illness

Ulcerative colitis has become a big issue for many people. A study was done to see what, if anything, curcumin could do to help these people. The study tested curcumin and mesalazine (a typical NSAID used for this condition) against a placebo and mesalazine. Those who were only given the placebo and curcumin were found to be four times more likely to have a relapse of ulcerative colitis during the study duration of six months.

There was another study done on Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. All of the ulceerative colitis participants and four-out-of-five of the Crohn’s participants showed strong improvements during the two months the study was conducted.

12. Possible Cholesterol Reduction

There was a study published in Drugs in R&D that showed that curcumin was comparable to the reduction of inflammation and oxidation stress in the treatment of high cholesterol in humans as atorvastatin. This study was done to follow-up on prior research that got a similar result.

Then in 2014 a met-analysis said that curcumin had no effect overall on blood cholesterol or triglycerides. The originator of that study also stated that the results could be caused by the study durations being too short in length and poor bioavilability of the curcumin formulas that were studied.

It is therefore concluded that further research is needed. But there is evidence that turmeric curcumin may be of benefit in the control of cholesterol.
